Gail Dayton
Gail
Dayton started her writing career at age nine with cat stories.
Her first published book was a Silhouette Desire, HIDE-AND-SHEIKH,
which was an
RWA®
RITA finalist for Best First Book in 2002. Her second Desire,
HER CONVENIENT MILLIONAIRE, won the 2004 Aspen Gold for Short
Contemporary Romance. Not long after Millionaire
was published, word about Harlequin’s venture into fantasy
with Luna Books began to spread.
Because Gail has been a big fan of fantasy
since the time she still thought kissing was icky, after months and months
of dithering and contemplating and procrastinating, she pulled together a
proposal and sent it in. Four months later, Luna called with an offer for a
three-book contract. (She didn’t tell them that she had no clue whatsoever
what would go in the second and third books.)
THE COMPASS ROSE, released March, 2005, is a
Reviewer’s Choice Award nominee for Best Fantasy Novel. The second book in
The One Rose trilogy, THE BARBED ROSE, was released March 2006, and the
third book, THE ETERNAL ROSE, will come out in 2007, so she obviously did
figure out what would happen.
