President's Corner

APRIL 2005

NTRWA President, Terri Griffis

Welcome to April! Don’t you just love spring. The fresh air and all the flowers bursting up through the ground definitely inspire romance. While attending a local University, I’ve noticed that flowers aren’t the only things to blossom. Love seems to be everywhere as phone numbers, shy glances, and the happy grins of those in love are regularly exchanged. The mating dance of spring can be observed almost everywhere. So if you need inspiration for a love story, get outside and look around, you might be surprised by what you see.

We have some great programs coming up so plan to attend the meetings. Our very own Karen Kelly will be presenting “Writing the Alpha Female” in April and Gail Dayton will be presenting in May.

I hope you’re polishing your ten pages for the Published Author Critique Roundtable scheduled for June. Shannon Canard will need the ten pages you’d like critiqued no later than the May meeting.

Angi Platt announced that Shannon Canard won first place in the Specialized category of the Great Expectations contest with her manuscript “By Any Other Name.” She also received a request from Berkley. Congratulations! As for the remainder of the results from the Great Expectations contest, we’re anxiously awaiting word from the editors.

NTRWA has had a lot of wonderful member news not only this month but this year so be sure and check out the website to see all the happenings.
