Conference was fabulous and there was a wealth of great classes and great people. I spoke with Shirley Jump on the shuttle ride to the hotel. She is our guest speaker for our fall Mini-Conference. She is excited about coming to Texas and putting on the conference for us.

NTRWA had several wonderful things happen at Nationals this year. Shannon Canard and I attended the President’s retreat on Wednesday. There were a lot of great ideas and we’re hoping to share some of them with you in the near future.

At the President’s retreat, NTRWA won first place for our website in the Professional Category of the website competition. Thanks to Juliet Burns, Leslie King, and Angi Platt for their hard work on the website. DARA took second in the website contest and Red River placed third.

The Literacy Autographing Wednesday night and was a huge success! RWA^® donated over $58,000 to literacy thanks to the generosity of the publishers for providing books and the authors for giving of their time and attention. Special thanks go to Angi Platt for all her work in coordinating the Literacy Signing. Angi’s husband, Tim, and daughter, Kourtney, assisted in making this a very successful signing. Thank you for all the hard work and effort!

Thanks to Andrea Geist for coordinating and all the NT members who volunteered to work our booth at Moonlight Madness on Thursday. As usual, Andrea’s beaded badge holders were well received!

Finally on Saturday, our very own Von Jocks won the RITA for her Bombshell AKA GODDESS in the category of Best Novel with Romantic Elements. Congratulations Von!!!
