President's
Corner SEPTEMBER 2007
NTRWA President, Jen FitzGerald
Dear Chapter Mates,
As we head into fall, it’s time once again to consider running for office. Anjalie Gilby is our Nominations/Election Committee chair and may be contacting you soon. Thanks, Anjalie, for taking on this crucial job for our chapter. And if you’re wondering, as long as you qualify time-wise, you can run for any office. We are specifically looking for VP/Program Director and Membership Director, but if you love numbers and are interested in running for Treasurer, or you really love taking notes and want to be our Secretary, have in web sites, or want to be the head honcho, please feel free to throw your hat in the ring.
There are also non-board positions i.e. committee chair positions to be filled. Mindy Obenhaus will not be continuing on as Ways & Means Chair, so we’ll need someone new to take on the task of providing our door prize raffle baskets. For a short-term job, we are looking for a Yellow Rose Award Committee Chair – this person would just solicit Yellow Rose Award nominations and make sure the names are included in the November newsletter on the ballot. If this is something you can take on, please let me know, ASAP. Our contest Co-Chairs, Barb Woodward and Micqui Miller, will be looking for a few good women (or men) to be category coordinators for or Great Expectations Contest which kicks off in December. But if you’re interested, they need to know now so they can get you hooked up on the Coordinator’s Loop and get you up to speed. It’s not a hard job, but you will need to be in town from December 29th to late February or so.
I’d like to extend a huge thanks to Gina Nelson for taking on the Writer’s Roundup. Unfortunately, Tara Waldie has had an overabundance of family commitments and felt she couldn’t give the Roundup the attention it deserved. So Gina graciously stepped up and volunteered. Next time you see Gina, thank her. Or shoot her an email via the loop.
Speaking of the Writers Roundup, we are going for something more intimate and tailored for you. It’ll be more of a retreat-type event than conference, and we’ll be getting down and dirty with the writing – whatever you need to work on. Gina will have probably contacted you via email with some details and asking what you want to do. We will be looking for a $25 deposit by the September meeting (9/15) to hold a place for you with the rest due at a later date. There should further details somewhere in the September newsletter, I just don’t know what page.
Well, that’s it for now – hope to see you at the next meeting.
Sincerely,
Jen
