2005 Spotlight On...
SUZANNE
MOORE

this… A dashing gentleman and a smart lady name Suzanne, in a private
dining room on the top floor of the tallest building in Seattle. The sun is setting as they sip
wine and enjoy unusually clear skies. Then an airplane flies past their
window pulling a sign that reads, “Suzanne, will you marry me?”… No you’re
not reading the first chapter of a juicy romance novel. You’re reading
about a day in the life of Suzanne Moore.
That
proposal sounds really romantic but how else do you impress a woman who
has been to England three times, lived on the Italian Rivera, been hiking
in Alaska, likes fishing, camping, river-rafted the Talkeetna River, gone
glacier hiking and is interested in southwestern archeology. Not only
that, she’s been cross-country skiing in Yellowstone, driven the Oregon Trail, the Pony Express route, and
a portion of Louis & Clark’s route across country….Talk about a woman
whose done everything!
Suzanne
Moore was born on the campus of Emory University. She lived in Georgia for thirty years before
moving to Dallas. She has a Ph.D and has
taught kindergarten. In her spare time she likes to read, garden, go to
the movies and play the piano. But she doesn’t have much spare time
because she writes books and magazine articles for kindergarten teachers.
She wrote her first story when she was ten. She’s had seven non-fiction
books for kindergarten teachers that have already been published; nine
are awaiting edits at Scholastic. She also had two children’s readers
published as part of Steck-Vaughn Publisher’s reading program. She
currently has twelve books under contract with Scholastic at the moment.
Her non-fiction books include a series focusing on science; a series of
books of original poems and songs to be used with puppets; independent
board games for four and five year olds; and a series of books featuring
booklets that children can make and read.
She
started writing fiction about three years ago, and she is currently
writing a bombshell that she would like to have published. She loves to
read and enjoy mysteries, suspense, biographies, history and romance. She
joined NT in February of 2004 and is the Tape Librarian and Co-Chair of
Ways and Means. One of her goals for the future is to write one fiction
book every year. Since Suzanne is a woman of such accomplishment, I’m
sure that is just what she’ll do.
