June 2005 Spotlight On...
Near graduation from college, she met an interesting fellow who took her dancing. After doing the two step and talking for hours about books, Britta found out that he loved Larry McMurty’s Lonesome Dove - - that piqued her interest because Lonesome Dove was one of her favorite books. She realized he was a wonderful guy. Then, one cold December day, he showed her just how wonderful he thought she was when he showed up at her apartment with an engagement ring. The two were married and now Britta has two children who are voracious readers like their mother.
Throughout
the changes in her life, Britta never forgot her love for books. She
continued to read several books a month from mainstream fiction to
romances to mysteries. Being an avid reader led her to want to write her
own stories. Five years ago she wrote her first nonfiction piece, a
parenting column for the Amarillo Globe-News, which she still writes.
Eventually, she began writing fiction stories about quirky small towns
and even quirkier characters. She has a book called Potter Springs that
debuted
Britta Coleman joined NT in 2004 right after her novel sold. Since then the people of NT have been an incredible support to her. Britta states what she has found at NT has not only assisted her career, but it has also encouraged her as an artist and as a person.
